Rabiya Mateo apologizes to Nova Stevens

The country's representative to this year's Miss Universe pageant, Rabiya Mateo, is aware of Miss Universe-Canada Nova Stevens having received bigoted comments from some Filipinos.

She admitted to the whole matter making her "really sad" in a recent press conference.

"I really feel sorry (for) her because nobody deserves to be in that position. I've been bashed, you know."

Rabiya shared that she has since reached out to Nova to say sorry.

Apparently, she felt responsible somehow being Filipino.

Rabiya is aiming to correct the whole debacle by creating a video denouncing discrimination.

"Because these hate speeches that we see online, this is not a reflection of who we are as Filipinos.

"I do not tolerate bullying in all forms.

"That's why I'm actually planning to make a video, me and the organization, to make an appeal to the public to stop being rude. Because it costs nothing to be kind."
