The 100-year-old Buencamino was surprised to see officials of the local government, led by Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos, visit her and present to her a bag of goodies, a plaque, and a check.

"Binigyang pagkilala natin ang bagong centenarian ng ating lungsod na si Gloria A. Buencamino mula sa Barangay Highway Hills na ipinanganak noong April 29, 1921 (We gave due recognition to Gloria A. Buencamino, who lives in Barangay Highway Hills, as our newest centenarian in the city of Mandaluyong. She was born on April 29, 1921)." Abalos wrote in her Facebook post.

"Naghandog tayo kay Nanay Goring ng plaque, mga prutas at cheke na nagkakahalagang P100,000 (We gave her a plaque, fruits, and a check for P100,000)." she added.

The mayor said her wish is for Nanay Goring to remain healthy and to live longer.

Ordinance No. 681 Series of 2017 mandates the local government to provide a P50,000 cash incentive to its constituents aged 100 years old and above.

It was amended in October of the same year after the national government required LGUs to give a plaque of recognition to its centenarians and increase the cash incentive to P100,000.
