QCPD to deploy more traffic enforcers on May 1

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will deploy 1,758 police personnel throughout the city to maintain peace and order and to ensure the implementation of health and safety protocols during the observance of Labor Day on Saturday, May 1

"We will deploy additional police personnel to maintain peace and order in our city. We would also like to ask our residents to stay at home so we can avoid the spread of COVID-19," QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra said.

The Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management (TFTTM) will deploy 282 enforcers for traffic and in maintaining health protocols in community pantries, cash aid payout, and vaccination sites.

"May mga naka-deploy tayong enforcers para sa pagpapatupad ng social distancing at health protocols lalo na sa community pantries, 'ayuda' payout, at sa vaccination sites. Of course, there will also be enforcers for traffic assistance," TFTTM chief Dexter Cardenas said.

Mayor Joy Belmonte urged the residents to avoid going out unless it is necessary.

"Nananawagan po ako sa ating mga residente na kung maaari manatili na lang po kayo sa inyong mga bahay kung wala namang mahalagang pupuntahan. Nasa ilalim pa rin tayo ng MECQ at ipinagbabawal pa rin ang mass gathering ayon sa IATF guidelines (I call on our residents to stay in your homes. We are still under the MECQ and mass gathering is still prohibited according to IATF guidelines)," Belmonte said.

Personnel from the law and order cluster, 100 personnel from the Department of Public Order and Safety, Market Development and Administration Department, Task Force Disiplina, and Barangay Public Safety Officers from different barangays will help maintain the peace and order in the city as well as enforce the health protocols to stop the spread of COVID-19.
