German companies are seeing great potential in the renewable energy industry in the Philippines.
Jointly organized by the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI), Eclareon, the Renewable Energy Association of the Philippines, and the Philippine Green Building Initiative, the "German Energy Delegation" highlighted the business opportunities between the two countries in the field of renewable energy.
German and Philippine experts, along with government representatives, shared project opportunities and best practices during the virtual conference on Tuesday, April 27.
“This conference shows the enormous potential for business cooperation between German and Philippine companies in the field of renewable energy. More than 80 B2B meetings were arranged during this business mission," said Stefan Schmitz, GPCCI president.
The conference was attended by over 100 participants and has reached around 700 people on Facebook.
German companies have been active in the Philippines for a long time. More German companies have presented their unique solutions for off-grid areas utilizing PV-hybrid and energy storage systems and are seeking to establish partnerships with Philippine companies.
The German Energy Delegation is a virtual business mission of eight German companies namely 21st Century Clean Energy, BAE Batterien, DHYBRID Power Systems, Ferntech, iQron, KRAFTWERK Renewable Power Solutions, TESVOLT, and Wollny Consulting.
“Solar and other renewable energy options are attractive and encouraged given the renewable energy policies of the Department of Energy. Fossil fuel in off-grid areas is not sustainable - operationally, economically, and environmentally. We need a paradigm shift towards self-sufficiency and a cleaner environment," Department of Energy Renewable Energy Management Bureau Director Mylene Capongcol said.
The German companies will further explore partnership potentials with Philippine counterparts days after the conference.
The project is part of the export program Energy Solutions Made in Germany of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) supporting German SMEs in their global outreach.
GPCCI is the official representation of German businesses in the Philippines. It is also a bilateral membership organization with around 300 members, and a service provider to companies in their market entry and expansion.
