Cops nab 278 wanted persons in Western Visayas


ILOILO CITY – For a period of a week, various units under Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) arrested 278 wanted persons in Western Visayas region.

Cops were able to arrest 41 most wanted while 237 classified as wanted persons were also nabbed from April 19-21.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the 279 were arrested in 251 police operations conducted in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.  

The arrests were made as part of PRO-6’s monthly “Brigada Semana”, a program that encourages police units to have a target weekly accomplishment.

In the campaign against illegal drugs, cops in Western Visayas region were able to confiscate P3.5 million worth of illegal drugs in 57 operations. This consisted of 521.762 grams of shabu (crystal meth) and 40.5 grams of marijuana.

In campaign against illegal gambling, 214 people were arrested in 60 different operations.

In the campaign against illegal firearms, 160 firearms and 18 explosives were recovered and 22 people were arrested.

Based on accomplishment, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office had the most number of accomplishments.
