CAVITE—The provincial government will be carrying out a free circumcision program this summer, Governor Jonvic Remulla said on Monday (April 26).
Remulla said many parents may have decided to postpone their sons' circumcision since 2020 due to strict community quarantine protocols.
"Ang nakakabahala ay pangalawang summer na sa Cavite na walang chop-chop, tabas-dulo o ang tinatawag na "tuli" (circumcision) na traditionally ay ginaganap during summer (What's concerning is that this is the second summer in Cavite when there are no circumcisions that traditionally happen during summer)," the governor wrote in a Facebook post.
"Ngayong hapon ay tatawagan ko ang mga mayor para mag-organisa ng libreng tuli drive (This afternoon, I'll call the mayors to organize a free circumcision drive)," he added.
He said the circumcision drives will abide by anti-COVID-19 guidelines such as social distancing and crowd control. They will also amend the protocol restricting those below 18 years old from going out.
Stop online brawls
Remulla also called on the people to stop online brawls, particularly about the clash between him and Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso.
"Mga ka-tropa, tama na muna ang mga online bardagulan. Peace na kami ni Yorme. Hindi na kailangan ang mga parinigan (Friends, enough on online brawls for now. Mayor Isko and I have made peace. There's no need to snipe at one another)," he said.
On April 23, Remulla defended Naic Mayor Jun Dualan over Domagoso's remarks about the late distribution or lack of financial assistance to former Manila residents who have been relocated to Naic. Later that day, the governor tweeted that he and Domagoso have ironed things out.
The Manila mayor has yet to address the issue as of press time.
Remulla also said that he will refrain from issuing statements about Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr., spokesman of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), and community pantries.
Parlade has drawn flak after red-tagging Ana Patricia Non, the woman who initiated the Maginhawa Community Pantry in Quezon City, the first of its kind in the country.
In October, 2020, Remulla slammed Parlade over similar red-tagging remarks against Domagoso, and actresses Angel Locsin and Liza Soberano.
