8K more added to PH’s COVID-19 cases


Eight thousand more has been added to the number of coronavirus disease 2019 cases in the country on Thursday, April 22.

This after the Department of Health recorded 8,767 new cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 971,049.

The case bulletin of the DOH also showed 17,138 new recoveries and 105 new deaths.

The total recoveries rose to 846,691 while total deaths climbed to 16,370.

Of the 107,988 active cases, 96.6 percent were mild, 1.3 percent were asymptomatic, 0.7 percent were critical, 0.9 percent were severe, and 0.55 percent were moderate.

The DOH said 25 duplicates were removed from the total case count as 12 of these were recoveries.

"Moreover, 43 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," it said.

The Health department said one lab was not operational on April 20, 2021 while 5 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
