DOH reports 9,277 new COVID-19 cases


The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, April 21, recorded 9,227 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.

With the addition of 9,000 more cases,the total number of COVID cases rose to 962,307.

The case bulletin of the DOH also showed 19,699 new recoveries which brought the total recoveries to 829,608.

Total deaths also increased to 16,265 with 124 new deaths.

Of the 116,434 active cases, the DOH said, 96.7 percent were mild cases, 1.4 percent were asymptomatic, 0.6 percent were critical, 0 8 percent were severe and 0.52 percent were moderate.

The Health department said 26 duplicates were removed from the total case count and 14 of these were recoveries.

"Moreover, 36 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," said DOH.

The Health department said one lab was not operational on April 19, 2021 while 8 labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
