COVID-19 cases in PH now 953,106


The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country rose to 953,106 on Tuesday, April 20, with the addition of more than 7,300 new cases.

The case bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) showed 7,379 new COVID cases.

The DOH also reported 21,664 new recoveries and 93 new deaths.

Total number of recoveries rose to 809,959 while the total number of deaths climbed to 16,141.

Of the 127,006 active cases, the Health department said 96.9 percent were mild, 1.3 percent were asymptomatic, 0.6 percent were critical, 0.7 percent were severe, and 0.48 percent were moderate.

The DOH said 18 duplicates were removed from the total case count saying seven of these were recoveries.

"Moreover, 20 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," it said.

Eight labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on April 19, 2021, the DOH said.
