Woman who filed rape, extortion charges against 11 Cebu City cops shot dead


CEBU CITY - A 35-year-old woman who had filed a string of charges against a group of policemen was fatally shot while standing by the road in Barangay Basak here Monday night.

The victim was identified as Ritchie Nepomuceno.

Leo Villarino, chief investigator of the Commission on Human Rights-Central Visayas, confirmed that the victim was the same person who accused 11 policemen of extortion.

The woman also alleged that she was raped twice by the team leader of the policemen, who at the time of the alleged abuse were assigned at the Sawang Calero Police Station.

The alleged abuse took place last March.
The 11 policemen had been relieved from their posts.

The Integrity Management and Enhancement Group-Visayas Field Unit also filed a string of charges against the 11 policemen, who were placed under camp restriction at the Police Regional Offic-Central Visayas Headquarters.
