New QCPD chief assumes post


Police Brig. Gen. General Antonio Candido Yarra formally assumed post as new chief of the Quezon City Police District QCPD) on Thursday, April 15.

In a change of command ceremony presided over by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Police Maj. Vicente Danao Jr. at Camp Tomas Karingal in Quezon City, Yara officially replaced Police Brig. Gen. Danilo Pepino Macerin  who will retireI in June 2021.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte witnessed the change of leadership and served as the guest of honor.

“The public deserves no less than the best. Hence, I would like to emphasize that we, police officers, must know our job and perform it well,” Yarra said. 

“Under my stewardship, expect everyone to continue and make a positive contribution to the legacy of public service in this city as established by our predecessors. We must take our job seriously amidst the global health crisis, as we face an unprecedented enemy aside from the ones that we are already well aware of”, he added.

Yarra belongs to the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1991.

Before his assignment to the QCPD, Yarra served as NCRPO deputy director for operations in December 2020.
