DOH reports more than 10K new COVID-19 cases


The Department of Health (DOH) reported more than 10,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Friday, April 16.

The case bulletin of the DOH showed 10,726 new cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 914,971.

The DOH also reported 145 new deaths which brought to 15,738 the total number of deaths due to COVID-19.

With 650 new recoveries, the total recoveries rose to 705,757.

And less the deaths and recoveries, the DOH said there remain 193,476 active COVID-19 cases in the country.

The active cases account for 21.1 percent of the COVID-19 cases in the country.

Of the active cases, 96.0 percent were mild cases, 2.9 percent were asymptomatic, 0.5 percent were severe, 0.4 percent were critical, and 0.30 percent were moderate.

"Forty duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 18 are recoveries and 1 is a death," said DOH.

"Moreover, 39 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," it added.

Six labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on April 15, 2021, the DOH said.
