VIRAL: Would you let your child eat coconut worms?

Is this even safe to consume?

Garnering over 12 million views and 104,000 shares, this was not the first time the parents of Baday posted their little girl eating a plate of live coconut worms.

According to asiatimes, "coconut worms larvae come from eggs laid by large beetles and are considered a delicacy because of their sweet taste. They are generally seen as pests because they infect and eat coconuts. Still, in Vietnam, a single coconut worm can cost around 25,000 Vietnamese dong (US$1)."

A known delicacy in our neighboring country Vietnam, it is not quite popular here in the Philippines which is why the video went viral for two reasons—those who are amazed that a little girl like Baday knows how to eat them, and the other half couldn't comprehend how her parents can't let her eat anything raw and alive.

A big portion of the comments attacked the parents, leading them to ask for help from Raffy Tulfo in defending them that coconut worms can be consumed.

The video ended with Raffy and the guest nutritionist confirming that the "coconut worms are edible." He also added that it is important to make sure that everything is clean before serving.
