The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided P47.2 million in financial assistance to individuals and families in crisis situations

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista assured President Duterte that the agency continued implementing its regular programs, particularly the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS),which has served a total of 7,351 clients from March 29 to April 12.

“Meron po tayong (We have) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, tuloy tuloy po ito (this continues)  not only in NCR-plus, but nationwide,” he said in a meeting with  President Duterte on Monday night, April 12.

He said the aid extended to AICS recipients amounted to P47.25 million, P32.1 million of which was given in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The other regions served by AICS were Central Luzon and Calabarzon, receiving assistance amounting to P8.59 million and P6.51 million, respectively.  Central Luzon logged 2,204 beneficiaries, while Calabarzon recorded 1,078 recipients.

Bautista said the agency continued supporting the recovery of individuals and families from unexpected crisis through AICS.

The aid is delivered through the various Crisis Intervention Units (CIU) at the DSWD Central Office, Field Offices (FOs), and satellite offices in provinces, the DSWD said.

Under AICS, beneficiaries are given educational, medical, transportation, burial, and food and non-food assistance in the form of outright cash to assist them in providing the basic needs of the families.

Based on the DSWD guidelines, among the beneficiaries of AICS are homeless families and other vulnerable groups,  indigent indigenous peoples,  informal sectors, and farmers and fisherfolks.
