P20-M shabu supplied by Bilibid inmate seized in Cebu anti-drug operation

CEBU CITY – Packs of suspected shabu supplied by an inmate at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) worth at least P20 million were seized in a bloody anti-drug-operation in Barangay Catarman, Cordova, Cebu before dawn Monday.

The illegal drugs weighing at least three kilos were seized from Joven Silong who was killed after he allegedly fought back with the police.

The operation was conducted by operatives of the Regional Intelligence Division, Police Drug Enforcement Group, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Cordova Police Station.

Police said Silong, a resident of Barangay Pasil here, agreed to sell packs of illegal drugs to a poseur-buyer past 1 a.m.

Silong sensed that he was transacting with a policeman and drew a .45 caliber pistol.
Police shot the drug suspect before he could pull the trigger. Silong died instantly with three bullet wounds in the chest.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect’s supply of illegal drugs came from a drug lord currently serving his sentence at the NBP in Muntinlupa City, police said.
