Pasay Mayor Emi open to use of Ivermectin vs COVID-19

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said that she is open to proposed use of Ivermectin and other alternative treatment against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as long as they are certified as safe and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Rubiano said she believes in the knowledge and expertise of the people at the FDA and is convinced that they would not recommend anything that could harm the people.

“Naniniwala po ako sa kakayahan ng mga eksperto natin sa FDA kung kaya’t kung irerekomenda po nila na puwedeng gamitin bilang gamot sa COIVID-19 ang Ivermectin at iba pa ay payag po ako na gamitin ito ng ating mga kababayan, (I believe in the capability of our experts in FDA, and if they will recommend the use of Ivermectin as medicine for COVID-19, I will agree to use it to our residents), Rubiano said.

The mayor added the country needs all the help it can get in these difficult and trying times.

Ivermectin has been on the news lately after several doctors and well-known personalities pushed for its use against the virus.

Socialite Katrina Ponce-Enrile, daughter of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, claimed that she was treated with Invermectin after contracting COVID-19.

Rubiano, however, said although she welcomes the use of Invermectin,  observing the basic health protocols and physical distancing is still the best protection against COVID-19.
