Parañaque to start vaccinating senior citizens with Sinovac

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that they will begin inoculating senior citizens against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with the vaccine from Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac on Monday, April 12.

"Yung Sinovac di pa pinayagan last week yung sa ating mga senior citizen (Sinovac was not yet allowed for our senior citizens last week)," Olivarez said in a television interview on One News.

He said that they have already received an advisory and that guidelines on the vaccination from the Department of Health (DOH) came out on Saturday.

The mayor disclosed that they have a total of 21,000 doses of both AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines and 16,500 of it were already used. The use of the AstraZeneca vaccines was temporarily halted by the Food and Drug Administration on Thursday, April 8.

The scheduled vaccination for senior citizens will be only on Monday (April 12), Wednesday (April 14), and Friday (April 16) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay Transport Terminal along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard.

The city also reminded that only those who registered will be vaccinated.
