P11-M marijuana destroyed


TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents seized P11 million worth of marijuana in a two-day eradication campaign in three areas in Mount Chumanchil in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, this province.

Kalinga police director Police Col. Davy Limmong said  a total of 31,000 fully grown marijuana planted in a 3,100-square meter land and 40 kilos of marijuana dried leaves with an overall Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P11 million were seized in the campaign.

Limmong said operating troops first discovered three plantations in the first area on April 9 and eradicated 20,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P4 million. Troops also recovered 40 kilo marijuana dried leaves with a DDB value of P4.8 million.
The following day, they uprooted 6,000 fully grown marijuana plants in a

600-square meter land in the second area with a DDB value of P1.2 million.
Later on, they reached the third area and discovered 5,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P1 million in a land measuring 500 square meters.

Limmong said the seized marijuana plants were documented and photographed and burned on site.
