12-hour power blackout in Iloilo City, nearby town Sunday

ILOILO CITY – A 12-hour power blackout is scheduled here and the neighboring town of Pavia Sunday, April 11.

The National Grid Corp of the Philippines (NGCP) said this is due to maintenance works on a transformer at their Iloilo substation from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“We’re asking for patience and understanding for this half-day inconvenience,” said Michelle Visera, NGCP Western Visayas regional corporate communications officer.

“This is a major substation equipment and it is crucial we maintain it to avoid further technical problems in the future,” Visera added.

The most affected are residents here which are under power distributor MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power). MORE Power listed that substations in the districts of City Proper, Jaro, La Paz, Mandurriao, and Molo will be affected.

The Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO I) announced that affected areas in Pavia are the streets of Evangelista, Hedriana, Maquiling, Ramos, and Sumakwel.
