3 reasons Netflix’s ‘The Way of the House Husband’ should be your next binge

If you’re looking for a quick and lighthearted binge, do check out Netflix’s latest addition – the anime adaptation of Kousuke Oono’s manga "The Way of the House Husband."

Here are three reasons you should watch the series.

  1. It’s short. Even if you don’t have a lot of time to spare, The Way of the House Husband which only runs for a total of 86 minutes for five episodes will be perfect for you. Each episode covers five stories from the manga so you don’t even have to finish watching the entire series in one sitting. You can have your bite sized moments of fun at your leisure and you can watch it over and over again with no problem.
  2. It’s outrageous. It’s hard to reconcile a hardened criminal completely turning over a new leaf and living a normal life but this is what Tatsu does in the manga and the anime. He falls for an otaku wife and simply decides to devote his life to her. It’s sweet and its funny to see Tatsu conquering his domestic pursuits with ease even though his former rivals still quake at the sound of his name. What’s more, he completely ingratiates himself with the neighborhood housewives and finds new friends in the middle aged lot.
  3. The voice acting. The show basically adapts panels of the original manga, colorizes it and presents it as an anime but what really brings it to life is the voice acting of Kenjiro Tsuda as Tatsu. His expressions and his inflections successfully makes Tatsu the larger than life character that he is in any iteration.

The Way of the House Husband was released by Netflix April 8. Hopefully, they also pick up the distribution of the live action version of this series released by Nippon TV in 2020 starring Hiroshi Tamaki.
