The program aims to help boost and strengthen the immune system of its constituents amid the COVID-19 pandemic as the available vaccines are not yet being administered for the general population.

"Ginawa po namin itong medical program para makatulong sa local government natin since tumataas na nga po ang cases ng COVID. Also, habang wala pa pong vaccine, makatulong po kami sa mga kabarangay natin to boost po 'yung immune system nila at ma-strengthen po 'yung resistensya nila laban sa mga symptoms ng COVID (We have created this medical program to help our local government since COVID cases are increasing. Also, while there is no vaccine yet, we can help our neighbors to boost their immune system and strengthen their resistance against the symptoms of COVID)," SK Chairman Lois Araullo said on Monday (April 5).

As of 11:12 a.m. Monday (April 5), a total of 137 constituents have received the Vitamin C booster injection which was held in Barangay 634, Valencia St. Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Residents aged 23 to 30 years old were given free Vitamin C injections during the two-day program because they are the ones who usually leave their houses, Araullo said.

"Ages 23 to 30 years old po ang napili naming age kasi sila po ang usually lumalabas ng bahay dahil may mga trabaho na and hanggang 30 po kasi ang sakop ng sangguniang kabataan (We chose the ages 23 to 30 years old because they are the ones who usually leave their houses and they already have jobs and those aged up to 30 is covered by the youth council)," she said.

"As for the 22 and below, mamimigay po kami next week ng mga oral vitamins and other medicines sa kanila (we will be giving away oral vitamins and other medicines to them next week)," she added.

The vitamin C injection was performed by professional doctors, according to Araullo.
