Metro Manila sizzles at 34.8 degrees Celsius

The air temperature in Metro Manila hit 34.8 degrees Celsius on Friday afternoon, April 2—so far the hottest day in the metropolis since the onset of dry season last March 26.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the temperature was recorded at its Science Garden monitoring station at 2:55 p.m.

PAGASA attributed the warm and humid weather conditions across Luzon to the prevalence of the easterlies.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) that is being monitored by PAGASA will bring rain showers in some parts of Mindanao and Visayas.

The LPA was spotted 30 kilometers west northwest of Zamboanga City.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccksargen, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and Palawan.

Residents of the said areas were warned of "possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains," PAGASA said.

Moreover, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience "partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms" caused by easterlies or warm winds from Pacific Ocean.

PAGASA also warned residents of "possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms."
