Robredo resumes donation drive amid ECQ in NCR Plus

Citing her office’s dwindling medical supplies, Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday, March 31, said they are now accepting in-kind donations to help COVID-19 frontliners and others in need during the week-long enhanced community quarantine.

Robredo took to social media her response to the “messages from people who are asking how they can be of help.”

The vice president told potential donors they need medical supplies and food items that would augment what the Office of the Vice President (OVP) has for its COVID-19 response operations.

“This morning, we checked our available supplies and I was informed that our medical supplies are already dwindling,” she said in a Facebook post.

The vice president shared photos of the available medical supplies and equipment at her office which were not as overwhelming as before at the height of the pandemic.

“Most of what we have now have been allocated to hospitals and LGUs sending requests. We have set aside funds from our budget for this purpose and we have been spending this already since the surge started,” she added.

Medical supplies such as face masks (N95, K95, and surgical masks), protective suits, head and shoe cover, gloves, alcohol and other disinfectants are welcome.

“We will appreciate donations of these medical supplies,” she said.

Since her office has been sending food and hygiene kits to communities on lockdown, Robredo said they are also in need of toiletries, rice, and other non perishable food items.

“Those who are asking if they can send cash, huwag po muna. OVP does not want to receive and handle cash donations,” she said.

The OVP’s partner, Kaya Natin Movement for Good Governance, has conducted a fund drive since the onset of the virus outbreak in March 2020.

“When we met with them a few days ago, they were in the process of liquidating and auditing all the cash donations from last year. Please wait na lang po for their announcements,” she said.
