IU, BLACKPINK’s Rosé top weekly album chart

K-pop princess IU and K-pop girl group BLACKPINK member Rosé copped the first two places in the weekly physical album chart in South Korea.

IU’s released her fifth studio album “Lilac” on March 25 while Rosé dropped her debut single album “R” on March 12.

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, “Lilac” grabbed first place on the weekly physical album chart from March 22 to March 28 with sales of 241,479 copies. “Lilac” debuted at No. 1 on the daily physical album chart on March 26, selling 216,319 copies.

Rosé’s “R,” which includes the song "On the Ground," placed second on the weekly chart with 93,646 copies sold. The physical album sold 282,674 copies on the first day of release on March 16. It set the record for the highest first-week sales for female artists of all time on Hanteo Chart with 448,089 copies. “R” also achieved the highest first-week sales among albums released in 2021 to date.

Placing third on the weekly physical album chart is BTS’ “BE (Deluxe Edition),” which was released on Nov. 20 last year, with 52,538 copies sold.

Super Junior’s comeback album “The Renaissance” bagged fourth place with 48,783 copies sold. Its first-week sales totaled 260,479 copies.

Chinese boy band WayV’s “Kick Back” album placed fifth with 38,382 copies sold. It sold 128,106 copies in the first week of release.
