Locsin sends well wishes to COVID-stricken Erap


Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Monday sent his best wishes to former President Joseph Estrada who was reported to have tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-2019).

“Be well, sir,” said Locsin in a tweet.

Locsin, who also served as a speechwriter for then-President Estrada, described the latter as a “kind man”.

“A kind man in the Presidency he was; always a kind man and a gentleman; he carried the loss of power and position with admirable lightness,” the foreign affairs secretary said.

In a radio interview earlier, former senator Jinggoy Estrada confirmed that his father was rushed to the hospital Sunday night, March 29, after testing positive for coronavirus.

Jingoy said his father was now in “stable" condition.

Estrada was elected president in 1998 and was deposed in January 2001 after facing an impeachment trial on a plunder case. In 2013, he ran and won as mayor of the City of Manila and served for two consecutive terms.
