This was the call made by DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña to firms in need of any metalworking-related services even as he cited that the Boscolo Mfg. Corp., which is engaged in manufacturing  rubber boots, sought the assistance of MIRDC in rehabilitating its five-year old aluminum boots mold.

"The company sought the help of the DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) in mid-2020.  The intervention provided to them is the rehabilitation of the 24-piece aluminum boots mold – imported and already five years old,” he said in a report.

Boscolo Mfg. Corp. is the company behind the Spartan brand, he noted.

“Through the technologies and facilities available at the DOST-MIRDC, the built-up portions of the molds were polished so that the resulting boots will retain their clean and smooth surface,” the DOST chief said.

“With the available mold technologies, the MIRDC developed a CNC (computer numerical control) program that designed the contoured surface of the molds to give the boots its signature Spartan Armor mold Viking and helmet logo,” he added.

De la Peña said the DOST-MIRDC "welcomes the opportunity to serve any metalworking-related needs of businesses across various industries.”
