Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center (GABMMC) in Tondo, Manila announced that it will limit accepting COVID-19 patients as its facilities have already breached full capacity due to sudden surge of cases.
In a Facebook post on Sunday (March 28), the hospital announced that its COVID-19 wards and isolation rooms are at 124.44-percent capacity.
The admitted patients include suspect and probable COVID-19 patients who are waiting for their RT-PCR test results.
However, the hospital said that it will continue to accept emergency cases.
In a live broadcast on Facebook on Saturday (March 27), Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said 277 or 89 percent of the 310 COVID-19 beds in the city's district hospitals are occupied.
As of Sunday, the city has 3,810 active COVID-19 cases out of 38,694 confirmed cases. Of this figure, 33,997 have recovered while 887 have died.
