DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said the recipients of the RxBox were the University of the Philippines- Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and the Batangas City Isolation Unit.

"DOST-Calabarzon coordinated the delivery by Ionics EMS, Inc. of 50 RxBox units with replaced new tablet batteries to UP-PGH SIBOL group for the deployment to COVID-19 wards at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH),” he said during his weekly report on Friday, March 26.

The delivery was made on Tuesday,  March 23.

"In addition, DOST-Calabarzon turned over a unit of RxBox to the Batangas City Health Office (CHO) for deployment at the Batangas City Isolation Unit on March 18, 2021,” de la Peña said.

RxBox was repurposed by the agency to benefit the country’s medical frontliners.

De la Peña said with the RxBox, the health workers would be able to monitor their patients without getting near them.

He explained that the device can monitor a patient's vital signs, and other indicators such as pulse rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and even electrocardiogram readings.

In February, DOST-Calabarzon deployed six “RxBoxes”  to The Medical City - Sta. Rosa in Laguna. It also conducted a three-day remote end-user training for health workers from the intensive care and emergency units of the hospital  to brief them on how to use biomedical device.
