Smart Omega sends NXP crashing back to earth, snags first MPL victory behind Toshi

Propelled by Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo's Esmeralda, Smart Omega took a 2-0 sweep of Nexplay Esports to bounce back and bag its first win in the MPL Philippines Season 7 on Friday night, March 26.

Toshi's Esmeralda spearheaded Omega's methodical gameplay in the series as the Season 6 runner-up and M2 playoffs finisher returned to its winning form following a 2-0 shocker at the hands of Execration last week.

Omega barged into the winners' column in Group B with three points while sending NXP crashing down after its 2-0 stunner over world champion and defending MPL king Bren Esports in the opening week.

NXP remained with four points, relinquishing the Group B top spot to Blacklist International which moved up with five points after a 2-0 sweep over Execration earlier.

Holding the advantage in Game 1, Omega went for the Enhanced Lord in the 19th minute but decided to burst James "Jeymz" Gloria's Alice down first behind Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo's Esmeralda.

That proved to be the game-winning play as Omega took a clinical 14-10 win in 21 minutes, with Toshi finishing with a 3-1-3 kill-death-assist record.

Salic "Hadjizy" Imam's Ling dished out the physical burst to rack up five kills and three assists against a lone death while Jankurt "KurtTzy" Matira's Wanwan also shone with a 5-2-4 tally.

It was a seesaw battle in Game 2 but Toshi once again on his Esmeralda sparked a 4-2 exchange in favor of Omega in the 12th minute.

Omega then secured the free Lord in the 13th minute before fending off NXP's last fightback to wrap up the sweet sweep as Toshi took six kills and four assists against a lone death.
