Cardinal Advincula says his appointment as Archbishop of Manila a blessing from God; asks for prayers

Archbishop-elect of Manila Cardinal Jose F. Advincula of Capiz sees his appointment as a "blessing from God."

"This is a blessing from God through the Holy Father and to the Archdiocese of Capiz," he said in a statement.

"This blessing is not only mine but also for the faithful of the Archdiocese of Capiz, and of course for the entire Philippines," added Advincula.

"I ask the faithful to pray for me as I pray for everyone," he said.

Advincula's message was released by Father Emilio Arbatin, the spokesperson of the Archdiocese of Capiz.
