27 more overseas Filipinos infected with COVID-19 while 16 others recovered


The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday said it has received reports of 27 confirmed new cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) and 16 new recoveries among Filipinos abroad.

 No new fatality was recorded in the latest report compiled from the country’s various foreign posts worldwide.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases involving overseas Filipinos since the outbreak began in February last year is now 16,067.

Of this total, 9,738 have recovered, 5,282 are still undergoing treatment while 1,047 died due to coronavirus infection. 

The Middle East and Africa remained as the combined regions with the most number of COVID-19 infections among overseas Filipinos with a total of 8,884 while the Americas has the lowest with a total of 901 cases.

 Through its personnel in the various consulates, missions, and embassies abroad, the DFA reiterated its commitment to attend to the needs of overseas Filipinos, whenever possible.
