Kim Sejeong, star of the hit Korean TV series “The Uncanny Counter” and former member of girl groups I.O.I and Gugudan, is set to return to the music scene with the release of a new album.

Sejeong is set to drop her second mini-album “I’m” on March 29, which will contain five songs including the main track "Warning (feat. lIlBOI)." She participated as a songwriter in all the tracks in her new album.

The release of “I’m” comes a little over a year since she launched her first mini-album “Plant” in March 2020.

She entered the entertainment industry via the survival audition TV show “Produce 101” in 2016. In the finale, she finished second and debuted in the girl group I.O.I in May 2016. The group lasted until January 2017.

While she was under I.O.I, Sejeong also debuted in the girl group Gugudan, which was under her agency Jellyfish Entertainment, in June 2016. Gugudan lasted until December 2020.

Last November, “The Uncanny Counter” premiered starring Sejeong, Jo Byung-gyu, Yoo Jun-sang and Yeom Hye-ran. The series became a hit in the ratings. Sejeong also participated in the drama’s original soundtrack through the song “Meet Again.”

When she released her first mini-album “Plant” last year, she said, “I am half worried and half excited. I wonder how they’ll be received by listeners,” according to Ilgan Sports and Korea JoongAng Daily.

When asked if there was a change as a solo artist, she said, “Not much really. Since I got a studio of my own last year, I’ve just been working away. Now I’m quite used to working alone.”

While she is also an actress, she said, “Singing always comes before acting for me. But I want to do well in both.”

Sejeong said the artists she wanted to collaborate with included Day6 and Jung Seung-hwan.

When asked what she wanted to do while she is in her 20s, she said, “I’d love to have a solo concert. I’d like to keep acting and singing and keep growing. For now, my resolution is to compose five songs, write lyrics for 10 songs, read five books, do better with skin care, find the right body weight for me and travel at least twice in the year.”
