‘Mortal Kombat’ actor Tadanobu Asano is also a painter

One of the most recognizable Japanese actors in the international film scene also does some sketching, drawing, and painting

With a ‘Mortal Kombat’ reboot coming very soon, you have probably done a fair share of googling who the actors in the new film are. Some of these are new, or fairly so, in Hollywood and the international movie market. Others are almost household names or faces, because you’ve seen them in several other films—like Scorpion actor Hiroyuki Sanada (“The Last Samurai,” “47 Ronin,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and “The Wolverine”) and Tadanobu Asano who plays Raiden.

The latter, in fact, is more than just an actor who has appeared in titles like ”Ichi the Killer” (2001), “Thor” (2011), “Battleship” (2012), alongside Sanada in “47 Ronin” (2013), and “Midway” (2019). He also dabbles in sketching and painting. According to an article that appeared on The Japan Times, Asano started to draw in 2013, in between shooting scenes for “The Wasted Times” (2016). Since then, he has contemporary art exhibits and he continues to paint, posting many of his works on his Instagram account.
