Filipino lensman wins prize in Boston Drone Film Fest


A Los Angeles-based Filipino lensman bagged an award in the Boston Drone Film Festival.

Eric de Leon's work titled "The Famous Siargao Island" won the Nature Photo category. 

De Leon bested three other nominees, namely Emily Bailly ("Missed the Boat"), Nick Smith ("Grainy Lines"), and Sebastian M ("Sulfur"), with his aerial shot of Siargao Island. 

Known as the "Surfing Capital of the Philippines," Siargao is a tear-drop shaped island located at the northeastern coast of Mindanao.

Boston Drone Film Festival is an annual aerial photography and cinematography festival that celebrates the achievements of the world's best drone photographers and drone cinematographers.

Other categories include Architecture, Landscape, and 360 in the photo category and Landscape, Sports, Documentary, Film Editing, Urban, Showreel, Single-Take, Cinematic, first-person view (FPV), FPV Freestyle, Student Film, and 360 Video in the film category.

This year's festival was held virtually from March 19 to 20.
