In an interview with CNN Philippines, QC Task Force on COVID Head Joseph Juico said additional beds have been added at the Quezon City General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“Our COVID ICU beds are already in full capacity at 103 percent,” Juico said about the situation in QCGH.

The occupancy rate in QCGH’s COVID ward, however, is only around 40 percent.

Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital (RMBGH) also had to add more beds to cater to more COVID patients.

Currently, RMBGH’s occupancy rate is at 122 percent.

Quezon City's third government hospital, Novaliches District Hospital (NDH), meanwhile, is already at 80 percent utilization.

As for the city’s quarantine facilities, Juico said they are currently operating six HOPE facilities which are already at 56 percent occupancy.

Based on the Department of Health’s tracker, Quezon City is the city with the most number of COVID-19 cases in the country at 53, 037 as of March 21.

It is also the city that recorded the most number of new cases in the “last 14 days by date of onset of illness.”

Juico, meanwhile, said the local government is “actively looking” for other areas which need to be placed under granular lockdown.

“The more granular lockdowns that we are able to identify, the quicker we are able to address the spread of the virus in Quezon City,” he said.
