Home quarantine will be banned in Laguna province following the implementation of added restrictions in areas included in the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) bubble.

In an interview with DZMM on Monday (March 22), Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez said most residents in Laguna who test positive for COVID-19 still prefer to be quarantined at home instead of going to the isolation facilities.

“Yung quarantine facilities po natin sa Laguna hindi napupuno. Bakit hindi napupuno? Dahil karamihan ng nag po-positive ay gusto nila talaga ay mag home quarantine (Our quarantine facilities in Laguna are never full. Why were they never full? Because most of those who tested positive want home quarantine instead),” Hernandez said.

Hernandez highly discouraged Laguna residents to do home quarantine since it is unsafe to keep a COVID positive person in the household.

The governor also vowed to strictly implement the ban on home quarantine and asked Laguna residents to cooperate with the local government.

Hernandez said Laguna’s nine provincial hospitals are already at the “critical stage.”

Some of these hospitals also cater to non-residents, or patients residing in areas near the borders of the province, according to the governor.
