A report from the office of Police Brig. Gen Val de Leon, Central Luzon police director, said the armed men were on board a red Mitsubishi Mirage (UQG-517) when a police team tried to stop them in Barangay Calulut.

The occupants of the vehicle, however, opened fire at the lawmen, triggering a brief gunfight. The suspects were later cornered by another mobile team of Regional Highway Patrol Unit (RHPU-3) on Calulut Bypass Road.

Instead of surrendering, the suspects fired at the operatives who retaliated and killed the gunmen, according to the report.

Police said the suspect’s vehicle with previous plate number NS3717 had been under police surveillance. Intelligence operatives followed the car from Quezon City up to San Fernando City, Pampanga Wednesday afternoon.

The suspects were allegedly planning to commit a crime inside a subdivision in San Fernando City when they were intercepted by police operatives.
