2 Gensan councilors contract COVID


GENERAL SANTOS CITY – The City Council has suspended its session after two city councilors tested positive for COVID-19.

Vice Mayor Loreto Acharon ordered the suspension of the regular session and public hearings at the Sangguniang Panlungsod after City Councilors Richard Atentido and John Salvador Demdam tested positive for COVID-19.

The General Santos vice mayor directed officials and employees of the City Council who were exposed to Atendido and Demdam to undergo mandatory quarantine.

Demdam said he contracted the virus from a COVID-19 infected person he visited in Polomolok, South Cotabato. He said he tested positive for COVID-19 after he was hospitalized for fever and body pain.

Atendido said he could not remember how  he contracted the virus which had caused him severe cough and fever and difficulty in breathing.

He underwent COVID-19 test after he was taken to the hospital for severe cough and difficulty in breathing.

Atendido and Demdam had been isolated at the COVID-19 facility of a hospital here.
