Pinaypreneurs in the spotlight

Globe myBusiness marks International Women's Month by empowering Filipina-led MSMEs

Globe myBusiness is amplifying the true essence of this year's International Women's Month celebration in the Philippines by anchoring on the global theme #ChoosetoChallenge.

This 2021, Globe myBusiness has chosen to spearhead a campaign that showcases the many achievements and contributions of Filipina entrepreneurs or Pinaypreneurs, along with the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that they lead, in shaping the new future of the Philippine economy despite the uncertainties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic last year and in the years to come.

Kicking off the campaign, Globe myBusiness has launched the #PinaypreneursPassionforDigital Facebook promo on March 10.

To join, participating Pinaypreneurs must update their profile photo using the #GlobemyBusiness Facebook Profile Frame “International Women’s Month” then tag their fellow Pinaypreneurs who inspired them to reinvent their success.

Participants must also ensure that their profile photo is set to public with the hashtags #GlobemyBusiness and #PinaypreneursPassionforDigital. Globe myBusiness will choose 12 lucky Pinaypreneurs who will receive P1,000 GCash credits.

The promo runs until March 21, 2021. For more information on the promo mechanics, check out this link on Globe myBusiness Facebook page  (glbe.co/PinaypreneursPassionForDigital).

Pinaypreneurs rise to the digital challenge

Another highlight of the campaign, Globe myBusiness also staged the Pinaypreneurs Rise to the Digital Challenge joint webinar in partnership with USAID's Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE).

An economic development project, SURGE is currently implementing the Women Global Development and Prosperity (WGDP) initiative of the United States government to support Pinaypreneurs, in collaboration with Globe myBusiness, local private sector, and the local government units (LGUs) of Batangas, Legaspi, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Tagbilaran, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, and Zamboanga. The SURGE project has been supporting over 2,000 Pinaypreneurs, especially during the pandemic.

Five inspiring women who have helped women-led MSMEs and other entrepreneurs to survive and thrive despite the challenges of the pandemic were invited to the webinar. Select Globe myBusiness customers also shared their inspiring stories that explain how their businesses achieved resiliency with the help of digital transformation and technology adoption.

Eileen San Juan of Trade and Investment Promotion Center (TIPC) in Cagayan de Oro City proudly shared that they have established the Ginama Entrepreneurial Center for Women. Through the center, they train and mentor women-led MSMEs on new technical skills and digitals tools and technologies such as social media marketing and customer engagement, and online payment tools such as GCash and product delivery methods.

Adelyn Yucamco of General Santos City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office, meanwhile, talked about their GenSan Kaya Natin portal which provides SMEs a localized digital channel to promote their products online.

Cathelyn Torremocha, the OIC City Administrator of Tagbilaran City, shared that they organized Tagbo sa Tagbi, a community of food producers selling local food products and delicacies via social media to buyers without the need for actual face-to-face transactions.

Sharing her idea as a successful Pinaypreneur, Willen Ma of Masuki Restaurant pointed out that the most important technology is hardware, particularly phones and computers, to get into the digital economy.

Tab Abad of Harem Inc (Strip and Brownhaus), meanwhile, put more emphasis on software, specifically digital tools such as apps, social media channels, and websites, which enable capabilities like cashless transactions.

True to its commitment, Globe myBusiness continues to fulfill its promise of delivering digital solutions to empower businesses in the country, especially MSMEs led by Pinaypreneurs, with its full array of digital business solutions as we move toward a better and more digitally-driven Philippines.
