Pasig City launches first bike repair station

As the number of people transitioning to cycling grows due to the lack of available public transportation amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Brgy. San Antonio (BSA) in Pasig City opened on Tuesday, March 16, the city's first bike repair station to provide cyclists accessible basic repairs of their bicycles free of charge.

The bike repair station is located along F. Ortigas Jr. road, formerly Emerald Avenue, near Ortigas Park, and is equipped with a bike pump, allen wrench, screwdriver, and other basic tool essentials for bicycles.

BSA Chairman Raymond Lising said that cyclists can use the station in case they get a flat tire and other bike-related maintenance problems.

“As a cyclist myself, we thought of having a bike repair station in our community to cater to the cyclists living and working in our community. And they can use the bike repair station any time of the day,” Lising said.

“This will encourage more people to use bicycles as an alternative transportation. In case you have an emergency repair, the bike repair station is the answer,” he added.

Lising also said that BSA is also planning to install more bike repair stations in Pasig City and appealed to the public to help them maintain the station.
