Data released by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed that of the eight municipalities already canvassed, the "no" votes has a total of 75,075 compared to the 68,198 "yes" votes.

A total of 23 Palawan municipalities participated in the March 13 plebiscite.

The "no" votes won in the municipalities of Narra, Brooke's Point, El Nido, Aborlan, Sofronio Espanola, and San Vicente while in Rizal, and Bataraza the "yes" vote won.

Data from the Comelec also showed there were a total of 144,822 votes cast out of the 238,972 registered voters.

In a statement, Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said proceedings were suspended Monday as all the received municipal canvass reports had already been canvassed.

But, he said, the canvassing will be reconvened at 5 p.m. when the other municipal canvass reports have arrived.

When asked for the reason for the delayed delivery of the canvass reports, Jimenez said it was due to the distance of the other municipalities of Palawan from Puerto Princesa City.

Last week, the Comelec said it expects the results of the plebiscite to be known around March 16.
