Two local fishermen were apprehended by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) for illegal fishing in an area in Bohol which is considered as fish sanctuary.
In a statement, the Coast Guard said the arrested fishermen from Mabini, Bohol, were found using fine meshed nets at Cogtong Fish Sanctuary in Cogtong, Candijay, Bohol.
According to the PCG, the fishermen are facing a case of violation of the Municipal Ordinance No. 13 Series of 2017.
The arrested individuals, their fishing equipment, and their catch were turned over to the Municipal Police Station in Candijay.
