Father defending son hacked dead in Pangasinan


ROSALES, Pangasinan – A 68-year-old man was killed when he defended his son from an angry neighbor in Barangay San Isidro here last Friday.

Police identified the victim as Primo Nario.

Investigation showed that the suspect, Villamor Bulatao, alias “Sonny,” 42, confronted the victim’s son Banjo Nario for badmouthing him at 9:40 p.m.

A fistfight ensued and Bulatao grabbed a bolo. Bulatao attacked Banjo but the victim shielded his son and was hacked in the jaw, killing him on the spot.

Bulatao fled but was arrested Saturday and charged with homicide.

Police saw the victim bathing in his own blood and Banjo weeping over his father’s body.

“Talagang nahati ang kaniyang panga sa matinding taga mula sa itak na ginamit ng suspek (The victim sustained a serious hack wound in the jaw from the bolo used by the suspect),” case officer Police Senior Master Sgt. Leo Rombaoa said.
