Dawn Macandili excited to play in one league against rival teams

F2 Logistics libero Dawn Macandili is embracing the new challenges ahead when she and the Cargo Movers compete against the best volleyball players in the country in the upcoming Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.

Macandili admitted they were a bit surprised by the team’s move from the Philippine Superliga to the PVL, but still happy with the new developments.

“Medyo nagulat po kasi syempre we were playing in the PSL for the longest time,” Macandili said during her guesting at Comm. Noli Eala’s Power and Play program Saturday, March 13.

“Siyempre may lungkot, but we’re still able to have this opportunity to still play the sport we love.”

Sports are among those hit by the pandemic as a lot of tournaments got cancelled or postponed last year.

But the sporting world is slowly getting back into rhythm, particularly in the local scene.

The PVL boasts of 12 teams including five transferees from the PSL, making the tournament more exciting for fans and players alike.

Macandili said she couldn’t wait to start the competition.

“It’s going to be very exciting because finally, we’re in one league and we’ll be able to get to play with each other. Kasi iba-ibang levels ng team, halo-halong players,” she said.

“Tapos yung mga previous rivalries from each team mapapanuod mo ulit. So everyone’s excited. Hindi lang players, but also the fans.”

The former De La Salle standout said “it’s going to be a test of character to get back to our previous conditions.”

“With the one-year break, mate-test talaga yung mga players kasi lahat kami back to zero,” Macandili said.

Also competing apart from F2 Logistics are former PSL teams Cignal HD, PLDT Home Fibr, Sta. Lucia and Chery Tiggo, as well as PVL’s Army, Balipure, Choco Mucho, Creamline, Perlas Spikers, Petrogazz and UAC.
