Uncle, nephew hacked like trees, survive


BUSTOS, Bulacan --Two men are fighting for their lives after miraculously surviving serious deep hack wounds in different parts of their bodies inflicted by four motorcycle-riding men in Barangay Poblacion this town last March 3.

Police identified the victims as Percival Mabanta, 41, and his nephew, Jonathan Mabanta, 25.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) here said both victims bore deep hack wounds in the head, back , stomach, and arms after they were attacked by the suspects in their house.  

Investigators said the victims had a confrontation with the motorcycle-riding men. The suspects left the victims but returned later armed with bolos and started hacking the victims.
The victims were rushed to the nearest hospital but were transferred later to a bigger hospital for treatment.

One of the suspects, identified as Michael Morelos, 37, was arrested a few hours after the incident. The three other suspects who remain at-large were identified as Marlon Morelos, brother of Michael, and Marvin and Aaron Morelos, who are sons of Marlon. All are now the subject of a police manhunt.
