The Korean drama “Love Alarm” will be back for its second season starring Kim So-hyun, Song Kang, Jung Ga-ram and Ko Min-si.

A Netflix Original Series, “Love Alarm” Season 2 will premiere worldwide on March 12 and it takes place four years after the creation of the Love Alarm app.

“Love Alarm” is based on a popular Korean webtoon and is about a world where a mobile app alerts you if someone within a 10-meter radius likes you.

In the drama, Kim So-hyun plays the role of Kim Jo-jo, who still hides her feelings, while Jung Ga-ram is Lee Hye-yeong and Song Kang is Hwang Sun-oh.

In the new season, they have graduated from high school and are now adults but the three still have unresolved worries and conflicts. The second season also means the app has been updated with Love Alarm 2.0, a new feature that shows users a list of people who are likely to like them in the future.

On March 8, Kim So-hyun and Song Kang, together with director Kim Jin-u, held an online press conference on YouTube for “Love Alarm” Season 2 where they talked about what is new in the upcoming season and their characters.

“So, with the launch of Love Alarm version 2.0 in the first season, you saw Sun-oh and Jo-jo, and the other characters as students. And then now, they have grown into adults. You can see the three of them having grown up as people, and also in their relationship as well,” said Kim So-hyun.

“Love Alarm” Season 2 will be watched not only in Korea but in many countries around the world and according to Kim So-hyun, “And I've actually been surprised by the number of global fans asking when they can see the second season and who Jojo will end up with so I really was able to feel the popularity globally.”

Song Kang agreed, saying, “Yes. definitely, in all of the languages worldwide and when I see the comments on my SNS account. I also got a lot of comments of fans asking when can we get season two for ‘Love Alarm.’ So that really helped me realize just how much love the series received and I felt very happy.”

When asked how they would feel if the Love Alarm app is real, Kim So-hyun said, “It's amazing that you are able to see who has feelings for you but the function of informing you who you might like or who might like you, I think that's amazing and I think that's definitely something that you become curious about.”

About her character Kim Jo-jo, Kim So-hyun explained that “Jo-jo is a character who used to be very defensive, in a way, so she was wary about her feelings being exposed to others. She was afraid of other people knowing how she truly felt, which leads her to use the shield function on the Love Alarm app so that no one knows how she actually feels. And in the second season, frustration because of having used the shield leads to Jojo taking different actions, and it leads to her personal growth and development, which you will be able to see in the second season.”

After filming, director Kim Jin-u was amazed by Kim So-hyun’s performance in the drama. She said, “While we’re performing the role of Jo-jo I think nothing has ever been easy because in the love triangle, you know how to really express her feelings, her confusion. That was very hard to depict. Because director Kim gave us detailed directions, I think I was able to do that well.”

About his character Hwang Sun-oh in the drama, Song Kang said, “In season one, Sun-ohwas a high school student. You saw the pure and youthful side of him. However, since he broke up with his high school crush Jo-jo, he's very heartbroken. But in season two, Sun-oh becomes more mature, grown-up and you will be able to see Sun-oh as an adult. So Sun-oh will be more grown up.”

“Love Alarm” Season 2 is Song Kang’s third Netflix project after the original “Love Alarm” in 2019 and “Sweet Home” last year. Because of this, he has been dubbed as the “son of Netflix.”

“I am just very, very grateful. And when I hear of those nicknames. It just motivates me to do better, work harder. I really want to be someone deserving of the title ‘actor.’ So I constantly try to portray and express different emotions. That's my focus.

As for the title she wants to live up to, Kim So-hyun said, “Well, for me, I want to be known as an authentic actor, and someone who's genuine and authentic. I think, in whatever way people may describe me or whatever nicknames people might give me, all of that is an expression of love and an interest in me so I'm always happy and very grateful to hear that.”

“Thank you so much for giving a lot of love to season one so much so that we now have season two coming out. The chemistry between Jo-jo, Hye-yeong and Sun-ho is going to be stronger this time so we will be bringing a more exciting show. I hope you look forward to it,” said Kim So-hyun.

Song Kang said, “Thank you so much for your love and support for season one of ‘Love Alarm.’ Season two it's just as fun and exciting and it's going to be different in a way so I hope you love the new series.”
