DPWH Cagayan 1st DEO completes 7 access roads in Gonzaga

GONZAGA, Cagayan – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Cagayan 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) has announced the completion of seven road projects that will benefit hundreds of farmers and fisherfolk here.

DPWH Cagayan 1st DEO District Engineer James Ferrer said these are the access roads leading to a dragon fruit plantation (246 linear meters) and the Sta. Clara Tourism and High Agricultural and Processing in Barangay Sta. Clara (320 linear meters); access road connecting agri-fishery and seaweed chips processing in Barangay Caroan (468 linear meters); access road leading to corn growers in Sitio Lacub, Barangay Tapel (393.50 linear meters); access road connecting to agri-business (fish landing and processing) in Barangay Minanga (411.50 linear meters); access road connecting to meat and milk production, watermelon, and corn plantation in Barangay Cabiraoan (323.50 linear meters); and access road leading to fish landing and “bagoong” (fish paste) processing in Sitio Namuyucan, Barangay San Jose (398 linear meters).

According to Ferrer, these roads will enable farmers to easily transport their produce to trade centers.

“They have to endure the bumpy and muddy gravel road causing additional cost. Now, that these are completed, it will ensure safer and faster travel for motorists and residents traversing these local roads,” Ferrer added.

These projects were built together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and funded under DPWH Regular 2020 Regular Infrastructure Program with an allocation of P57 million.
