P7-M shabu seized from delivery boy in Cebu

CEBU CITY – One kilo of shabu with an estimated value of P7 million was seized from a 36-year-old man in Barangay Ermita here Saturday.

Carlo Magno Tude was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) at past midnight.

Police learned that Tude worked as a delivery boy of a courier company and it was possible that he used his job to cover his illegal drug activities.

Police said Tude admitted that his supply of illegal drugs came from Allen Ramas Badajos, who is currently detained at the Cebu City Jail for drug charges. Badajos was arrested in a buy-bust operation last 2016.

Tude claimed that someone would bring illegal drugs to his house. He said he was asked to deliver illegal drugs and was paid P5,000 per delivery.

Police Major Jonathan Taneo, chief of CDEU, said Tude, a resident in the barangay, said Tude was capable of selling P40-million worth of shabu a week.

During the transaction, the suspect agreed to sell 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000 to a poseur-buyer.

Taneo said Tude’s alleged illegal drug activities were reported through Facebook Messenger. “It took three weeks of surveillance before the buy-bust was launched,” said Taneo.

Police Col. Josefino Ligan, chief of Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said the amount of drugs seized from Tude was the biggest confiscation made by police so far this year.
