DOH records 3K plus new COVID-19 cases for third straight day


The Department of Health on Sunday again recorded more than 3,000 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The March 7 case bulletin of the DOH showed 3,276 new cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 594,412.

On March 5, the new cases was 3,045 and at 3,439 the next day.

The Health department also reported 10,516 new recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries to 545,853.

Total deaths is now at 12,516 with 51 new deaths.

Less the deaths and recoveries, the DOH said there remain 36,043 active COVID-19 cases in the country.

Of the active cases, 90.6 percent are mild cases, 4.2 percent are asymptomatic cases, 2.2 percent are critical cases, 2.1 percent are severe cases, and 0.91 percent are moderate cases.

The DOH said two duplicates were removed from the total case count.

It added that 13 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The Health department said seven labs were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on March 6, 2021.
