708 law offenders arrested in week-long police operation in Cagayan Valley


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Police in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) have arrested 708 law offenders, including 57 most wanted persons (MWP), in a week-long operation.

Police Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves, Police Regional Office 2 chief, reported to PNP chief Police Gen. Debold Sinas that the suspects were arrested in Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) from Feb. 26 to March 4.

Nieves said 171 wanted persons, 57 of whom are listed were MWPs, were arrested. He said 34 persons were arrested in 16 separate operations to enforce forestry laws under Presidential Decree 705.

Nieves said PNP units in the region conducted 23 anti-illegal drugs operations during the period, resulting in the arrest of 29 suspects for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police also conducted 23 anti-illegal gambling operations and rounded up 110 persons for violating anti-illegal gambling laws.

He said 11 firearms were recovered while eight persons were arrested in eight operations to enforce RA 10591 (Firearms Law).

The weeklong SACLEO culminated with 102 separate law enforcement operations that resulted in the arrest of 356 violators of special laws and local ordinances.
